Travel Day!

Day 1 : As someone who hasn’t traveled alone in over a decade ,especially internationally, the day it took to travel to Germany was an adventure to say the least! I got to the Houston airport 2 hours ahead of my flight take off because I don’t particularly like being late. After boarding it was a short hour and a half ride to Atlanta where the real fun began. I read my ticket wrong and ran to the wrong terminal in a completely different part of the airport. Once I realized my mistake I had to sprint to the right terminal and made it on the plane about 2 min before they closed the gates for take off! Once in the air it was an in eventful ELEVEN hour plane ride to Frankfurt international airport. I deplaned, got through customs and got my luggage.

Thinking pretty high of myself I didn’t think that finding our groups meeting point would be difficult. An hour and a half later I finally found the spot and was able to get some caffeine and food into my system to help with the headache I had acquired over the course of the last 20 something odd hours!

Our group came together and it was finally time to get to Bonn and meet our host family’s! The trip to Bonn was uneventful but the countryside was absolutely breathtaking.

Once we arrived at the old AIB building we met our host family’s and departed ways until the next day. I chose to room with another student because I knew I would need someone’s help when it came to finding my way around and I think it was the perfect choice! I ended the night with dinner with my host family and anticipation as to what the rest of the trip would bring!
